AL-JANA was established in 1990 in response to the needs of the community and grassroot NGOs for a resource center that can provide training and resources relating to youth, culture and creative expression. It was with the backing of these NGOs, and the dedication of several volunteer friends, that the center was founded.
Foremost among the founding friends are Nabil Badran, Rosemary Sayigh, Widad Qawar, Adel Manzi, Wafa El-Yassir, Husni Zeina, and Imad Shouli.
AL-JANA believes that there are many resources and experiences in our communities that are the basis for real human development. Over the years AL-JANA grew with the vision and dedication and example of these people and experiences.
