Janana Mobile Carnival April 2010
AL-JANA and the Janana network participated in the Janana Mobile Carnival Festival that toured marginalized communities engaging young and old.
The festival included the following:
· Fun hands-on activities promoting conflict transformation & healthy living
· Songs for children
· Fun hands-on activities promoting conflict transformation & healthy living
· Clowns & Magician Show
· Nos-Nses Show
· A street carnival that engages people of all ages. Children (8-14) are encouraged to express their issues in creative ways.
A number of Italian, Mexican, Egyption, Lebanese and Palestinian performers, artists and musicians participate in the festival.
The Festival and street carnival hit the following areas:
Beirut/ Sanaye’ Garden; Baa’lback/ Ras El Ein; Saida/ Khan El-Franj; Tripoli/ Al Mina Garden; Tyre/ The Public Park; Hermal/ Marjet Al-Wakf.
Among the unique characteristics of the Spring Festival is the cooperation between the libraries, organizations, and associations of civil society in addition to the coordination with schools and local municipalities.
Janana campaign aims at developing child-friendly libraries and encouraging active learning and creative expression amongst marginalized communities in Lebanon.
