Janana Summer Encounter 2010
Summer Encounter 2010
For the 9th consecutive year, Al-Jana, in cooperation with Janana Network, has been coordinating for and implementing a Summer Encounter for facilitators working in refugee camps, gatherings, and marginalized communities in Lebanon. The Encounter gives staff of partner NGOs, CSOs, centers, and youth clubs the opportunity to learn new skills, share experiences, meet with trainers, and develop support networks all in a setting away from the pressures and demands of their daily life and work. It also provides them with a venue to access resources that will enhance their capacities to deal with children and youth.
The Encounter 2010 took place between the 31st of July and the 9th of August 2010 at Brummana High School. The encounter’s workshops focused on two comprehensive and complementary themes; namely; the Active Learning and Creative Expression Theme, and the Conflict Transformation Theme. The 19 workshops were attended by 143 animators, both males (38%) and females (62%), from centers and NGOs working among the marginalized communities all over Lebanon. There was also a modest participation (8%) from neighboring countries, including Yemen, Egypt, Kurdistan, Palestine, and Jordan. An elite group of Arab and Foreign trainers conducted the trainings. Although the majority came from Lebanon, some came from Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Germany, and Italy.
