Palestinian Refugee Children Record Their Lives & Express Their Hopes
“When I grow up, I want to help Children realize their dreams” Young photo-voices from the camps a journey with 30 Palestinian refugee children living in Lebanon. The children introduce us to their lives in Shatila and Borj al- Barajneh Palestinian refugee camps, wishes, what makes them happy, how they view their rights, and their moments of hope. The year 1998, marked the 50 year anniversary of the declaration of human rights. The Palestinians in Lebanon were remembering 50 years of dispossession and displacement, with their right to return denied. In that year, AL-JANA began a four year project with 30 children – representing the fourth generation from Shatila and Bourj El-Barajenh camps in Beirut. The project enabled the children to express issues that concern them, while learning the skills of photo journalism, film-making and book arts.
