Multimedia
Program activities
The Media Program perceives media and art as a tool for social development and community problem-solving; as a means to stimulate self expression; and as a tool for strengthening the capabilities of the upcoming generations of Palestinians and Lebanese. Operating in the non-tangible divide between creative self-expression and social change, ARCPA/Al-JANA involves youth and children in the production of publications, videos, films, and documentaries. This includes:
Youth Media Workshops / Young Journalists & Young Filmmakers
These workshops engage youth of Palestinian and Lebanese communities in a process of creative expression where they produce pieces telling their own personal stories through various multi-media tools including graphics, audio, video animation and web publishing.
Media Workshop / Power of Digital Story
These workshops engage youth and adults of Palestinian and Lebanese communities in a process of creative expression where they produce pieces telling their own personal stories relating to conflict through various multi-media tools including graphics, audio, video animation and web publishing. The woekshops aim inviting different backgrounds to interact with each other and learn more about each other’s communities in a way that will correct any misconception and stereotypical ideas of each other.
Jana International Film Festival for Children & Youth
“Children on the margin create their world: JANA International Film Festival for Children & Youth” is a biennial festival and an active learning visual arts program that engages children and youth in:
- Exhibits of photography and screening of films (animation, feature & documentary) created by or with disadvantaged children (up to 18 years). Hands-on workshops to discover these arts.
This is a forum were children & youth from Lebanon, the Arab World and the world at large, exchange their creative expressions and develop bridges of understanding and friendship, that transcends barriers and limitations in their lives.
Following JANA International Film Festivals For Children & Youth, these children’s products continue to travel and inspire the fantasy and creativity of children in disadvantaged communities in Lebanon, through activities that ARCPA/ AL-JANA center organizes with other grass-roots ngos projects for children and youth.
Film Screenings
The aim of the screenings is to raise awareness towards conflict as being an inherit part of the human nature, and to highlight the different ways in which conflict is dealt with world-wide.
Producing Films
Part of the media program, the center focuses on the production of films that reflect the realities of youth and children in marginalized areas. The center also produces educational material that incites youth and children to investigate and inspires freedom of expression.
Also part of the center´s work towards supporting youth and children in producing their films, songs, and media-related projects, we organized a workshop on studio-building during which we started the Al-Jana Studio which has become a place for technicians and those interested from youth, children and a variety of NGOs.
Special activities include a film-animation workshop (2D, 3D, found objects, claymation..etc.), editing workshops, journalism workshops…etc.
The multimedia center organized a variety of film screenings through out Lebanon all year round.
Films Produced by AL-JANA
Also, the center produced many films for the AUH (American University Hospital) and various NGOs.
