Nahr El Bared Activities, 2007
Film screening workshop
The film screening workshop was not only focused on developing children’s capacities and entertaining. It was also a good way to target people that were not involved in other activities of the organization, while informing parents and children on key topics such as children’s rights, protection from violence and abuse, and cross-culture meetings.
The workshop organized street films screening sessions targeting the youth, facilitated by the center’s experience with street presentations. These sessions found big success among the Palestinians, since it gathered people from all categories.
The centre collaborated with several other institutions :
- The UNRWA weekly presentations in the schools of Al-Nasser and Al-Ramla.
- The Bi'a scouts in the primary school and the Jarrah scout in the Fajr school.
- The Lebanese Red Cross in the Lokman schools.
- The Lebanese Morchidat scouts and the Palestinian Lebanese dialogue comity in the girls secondary public school
The JANA international film festival for youth and children, which took place in Beirut during the month of April, was a big asset for this workshop. Some of the films presented during the festivals conveyed topics such as children's rights, hygiene, violence, abuse, child labor, etc. "Neither Here Nor There", a movie about the emigration of Palestinian youth to Europe, was presented six times in different places of the camp. Every screening was followed by a debate.
Every screening was attended by 400 to 500 persons of all ages. It was one of the most important activities in the Al-Baddawi Camp.
