Dealing with children affected by the war workshop

• The duration of the workshop was two hours from ten till twelve in the afternoon

This workshop centered on issue related to the psychological problems of children as the result of the war. It emphasized on the child’s psychological health his needs and desires. It also emphasized on understanding the danger behind using some terms haphazardly which impeded communication with children and their parents. The trainees were able to introduce problems that children affected by the war face as well as identify the psychological needs of children. These needs focused on security, stability, and the basic needs of food and shelter. They were introduced to the problems that result from not satisfying these needs such as nervous disorders and bed-wetting. The method used in this workshop emphasized on the trainees active participation in identifying the problems, suggesting solutions and discussing their efficacy.
