Drama Therapy workshop (drama activities for children affected by the war)

• The duration of the workshop was for two hours daily
• Mr. Sharif Abdel Nour was the trainer for this workshop. He trained two groups, the first group attended the first morning session from ten till twelve and the second morning session from twelve till two in the afternoon.

The goal of the workshop was to be introduced to the importance of the body to express problems that face an individual in ones daily life. Through the improvising activities participants experience alternative ways of dealing with their bodies and how to communicate with others through drama. Certain situations were presented by the trainer and via improvisation activities participants were made sensitive to the way they react, interact and deal with certain situations. The role of the trainer in this case was to develop the physical, vocal and mime ability in order to convey the message. In addition to this there were discussion sessions conducted by the trainer to identify recurrent problems in our society and ways of dealing with them. The goal behind this was to develop the participant’s abilities in dealing with children. It also introduced drama techniques and methods where children can express themselves indirectly. Thus the trainees gained techniques that allow them to discover themselves and their ability to express themselves, these techniques facilitate their interaction with children.
