Amy Trabka

Volunteer Story, Amy Trabka I really enjoyed meeting with young people at Al Jana on Friday mornings to paint and draw and explore other activities such as shadow theatre. We started meeting in January of 2002 under the program From the Oak Trees to the Stars, with a mandate for helping the children to write and illustrate their own stories. Over the years we did this and much more, expanding our engagement to include three dimensional form making, puppetry, drama and animation. We visited museums and book fairs and learned how to work with clay in the mountains.  The books we made from the children’s artwork allowed us to share this experience, their ideas and creative spirits, with others.
